I get a lot of emails about where to find things in Columbus, or where to shop, or what gyms to join. This might help:

Where I shop in Columbus:

**and before I start, please remember: join the Columbus Roadrunners. Be a part of the running community.***

Swimming pools: I belong to the YMCA so that I can use the pools. I think you can join the Master's Swim Program and use the pools as part of that, without joining the YMCA...but I'm not sure. Fort Benning has pools, so if you're stationed at Benning you're in good shape.

Running Shoes: Below The Knee to get fitted. See Mike, he's there on Saturdays & Sundays. Bill & Greg are the owners, Mike is the son-in-law... Below The Knee has been around since the early 70's. Even had a resoling machine, if you know what one of those is...

Bikes: I personally have purchased bikes from both Arnold's & from Mike's Bikes. I've always loved going to both places and try to split my $ equally among the 2 shops. I haven't been to the shop in uptown Columbus, but I've heard really good things about them. Columbus has a great cycling community.

Hammer Gel & Hammer Nutrition products: I get mine from Mike's Bikes.

Headlamps: I just got a new one at Dick's Sporting Goods. My son got his from Ranger Joe's.

Camelbak: I have 2 from Ranger Joe's, and 2 from Dick's Sporting Goods.

Swim Goggles: I got mine at Dick's Sporting Goods

Team stuff, tape, athletic goods: Team Sporting Goods

Wrestling gear: Below The Knee. In stock year round for Fort Benning.

Where I would never, ever, ever, not in a million years go: Kinnucan's.

Clif Bars, Power Bars, Protein Powder etc: a couple of places. Target on Bradley Park Dr has a big selection; Walmart has Clif Bars & Power Bars. The Vitamin Shoppe has Gu. Mike's Bikes has a great selection of Hammer Nutrition stuff.
